The Centre Pompidou-Metz will be located in the Amphitheatre district, near the TGV high-speed train station and the city centre. It is the cornerstone of an ambitious urban renewal programme entrusted to Nicolas Michelin, architect and urban planner.
The building, designed by architects Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines, will include public areas in addition to the many exhibition areas, a creative studio for projections and performances, an auditorium, a bookshop-boutique, and a restaurant-cafeteria.
The future programme and choice of works on show will be determined in synergy with the Centre Pompidou. The Centre Pompidou-Metz will mostly present works from the Musée National d’Art Moderne (MNAM - Europe’s largest collection of modern and contemporary art), which will be regularly renewed; it will also present temporary exhibitions.
The audience policy will focus both on the quality of customer service and visits, and the diversity of visitors, especially young people.
