The novelist Mariko Asabuki has had an extraordinary career. Her first book, Ryuseki (Traces of Flow), won the Bunkamura Deux Magots Literary Prize in 2010. Her second book, Kikotowa, won the Akutagawa Prize. The richness of her vocabulary and her reflections on time and memory, have led some critics to compare her to Proust. Since then, she has published Timeless, a novel published in several parts in the magazine Shinshosha. She designs readings with “noise” musicians and collaborates with artists from other disciplines such as Norimizu Ameya.
